I want to use Loop on my online store

What is Loop?

Loop empowers brands to host and own their own resale marketplace on their site where their audience can buy and sell approved pre-loved products from their catalogue, as part of a resale community. It is powered by a service provider called Loop.

Why should I use Loop?

Increase revenue

  • The resale market is growing faster than ecommerce. Ensure that you can capture the value of your products over their full lifecycle by owning a % of each on-sale.

Build brand loyalty

  • On top of increasing choice through a more expansive catalogue of products and prices, Loop creates new opportunities for loyalty programs and marketing moments through discounts, store credit and other brand specific promotions.

Learn more about your customer

  • Owning your resale channel brings secondhand customer data in-house, improving your insights and access to your audience.

Pursue sustainability goals

  • Owning your resale channel will not only extend your products’ lifecycle, but also optimise ongoing production through refined insights into customer demand.

Increase store traffic

  • Hosting integrated resale incentivises your community to drive re-commerce buyers to your store.

What can be sold on my resale marketplace?

Loop allows your audience to sell all of your current and historic items. All resale items are approved by the brand before they are listed on their website.

Are there any retail categories that work best for branded resale?

We’ve found that where your audience is already trading products like yours online or at markets - think clothing, sneakers, memorabilia - then branded resale is likely just for you. Branded resale allows you to offer your audience an elevated resale experience via perks like discounts and credit, enhanced trust, and a tighter community of buyers.

How much flexibility do I have to customise the look and feel of Loop on my website?

Loop is designed to fit neatly into your brand. We achieve this by offering a range of customisable UI tools in our Retailer Portal that you gain access to after downloading our Loop App.

How does Loop manage customer service for my resale marketplace?

Loop makes around the clock customer service available to all buyers and sellers, ensuring that any question or dispute gets a quick response. Depending on your subscription tier, Loop manages the entire end-to-end process for your store’s resale program, from reviewing listings to dispute resolution so that you can focus on what you do best - building your brand and reaching your community.

Where is my resale marketplace hosted? On my website or elsewhere?

Loop integrates simply and importantly, invisibly, within your online Shopify store, and takes no more than 15 minutes to set up. All sales run through your store, collecting customer and product data along the way. Buyers and sellers get the benefit of having resale integrated with your database as they can list items directly from their purchase history or find them easily by searching through your SKUs.

How long does it take to set-up?

Setting up Loop couldn’t be easier. Simply install our Shopify app through the Shopify App Store, and in 15 minutes you should be ready to facilitate your first resale.

I’m weary of allowing customers to price items on my website. Does Loop offer any price restrictions?

Yes - Loop allows you to restrict movement around your retail prices by setting price floors and ceilings on a global or per SKU basis.

How much does it cost to use Loop?

Please visit our Pricing page to understand which subscription tier is appropriate for you.

How do I get my audience to use Loop once we’ve integrated the app?

Once you’ve integrated Loop, we recommend that you let your audience know so they start reselling! To get the best results, we suggest you email your engaged customer list and publish a handful of educational social media posts. As well as this, positioning Loop clearly in your main navigation will ensure that your fans will organically stumble across your resale offering.

I want to sell second hand

What is Loop resale on a retailers website?

Loop is a resale marketplace where you can buy and sell second hand products, as part of our resale community.

What can I sell on Loop resale marketplaces?

Each of our partner brands operates their very own resale marketplace that is powered by Loop and allows you to sell all of their historic and current items. Each item you upload for resale will be approved by that brand before it is listed on their website.

Why should I resell with Loop?

Reach more relevant buyers

  • Access a captive audience already scouring the <Retailer> website to find items just like your one. No need to wait until someone chances upon your listing elsewhere, get direct access to our community of potential buyers.

Earn cash, store credit and discounts

  • Earn 90% in cash or <store credit %) in credit for successful resales. Better yet, take home a <store discount %) discount to make your next purchase even sweeter.

Be trusted, and trust others

  • By keeping resale in the family, we make second hand shopping more secure. With seller and product verification, buyers have a reason to trust you. With each resale taking place on a branded website, sellers have good reason to trust their buyers.

Support your favourite brands

  • Each sale via the resale marketplace shares a % of the resale price with <Retailer>, meaning we can earn more, without manufacturing more, and continue making the products and experiences you love. It’s just one way we’re working towards a greener future.

How do I sell an item?

  • Start your product upload process via "list" or "sell" links on the retailer's website. Find your item through the search page, upload photos, set your price and list it. If you can’t find an existing item, then complete a new entry.
  • The retailer will review and confirm your listing within 3 business days.
  • Once you have a buyer, ship your item(s) using the prepaid shipping label you’ll receive to your email
  • Whether you’ve selected cash or credit, take home your earnings and do it all again

What’s the best way to photograph my items for resale?

  • You must provide recent and accurate product photos for your resale request to be approved. For best results, we recommend taking your photos in bright, natural light and uploading in 1:1 (square) format. Please also take accurate close-up photos of any imperfections on the item. If it’s new-with-tags, don’t forget to take a photo of the price tag too!
  • Remember, clear photos that help a buyer accurately assess the quality of your item is the best way to get a stellar rating and find buyers more easily.

How do I determine the quality of my item

Loop uses 2 quality scales depending on the category of product selected.

For the bulk of our product categories, we use a standard Used to Brand New scoring system:

  • Brand New: Unused with original packaging or tags
  • Like New: Unused in mint condition without tags
  • Used - Excellent: Lightly used but no visible wear and tear
  • Used - Good: Minor flaws or signs of wear, to be noted in the description or photos
  • Used - Fair: Obvious flaws or signs of wear, to be noted in the description or photos

For collectible goods, we get a little more tailored with the following system:

  • Mint: The item and container are absolutely perfect in every way. To qualify as Mint, the item must never have been played and is likely still sealed.
  • Near Mint: This item has more than likely never been played, and if it has, there will be no imperfections during playback. The item, cover or container should show no obvious signs of wear including folds, seam splits, scratches, or other noticeable similar defects.
  • Very Good: The item will show signs that it has been played, but is still well taken care of. Any defects in this item are cosmetic (slight scuffs or small seam splits) and do not affect the actual audio experience.
  • Good: This item has noticeable wear and tear that goes beyond simply cosmetic issues, and affects its playback. You should still be able to play through without skipping, but surface noises will be audible, particularly during the quiet sections.
  • Poor: The item is cracked, badly warped, and won’t play through without skipping or repeating. The container or cover could be cracked, water-damaged, and heavily marred by wear or writing

Remember: each buyer will leave you a review so it’s important that you accurately describe your item’s condition (preferably with a photo too!)

How and when will I be paid?

If you select to resell for cash, you will receive 85% of the sale price of the item and an additional discount off your next purchase.

If you choose to resell for the retailer's credit, you will receive the credit amount of the sale price of the item and an additional discount off your next purchase

Depending on your location, additional standard transaction fees of ~3% + $0.60 apply and are paid to Shopify and Stripe. These fees apply to cash payouts only; when you select credit, the retauker pays these fees.

Once our shipping partner has confirmed the delivery of your item, you will be eligible to receive your payment. Please allow 3-5 business days for your bank to process the payment.

How do I post an item once I sell it?

Once your item has sold, you will receive a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label via email. Pack your item(s) nicely with a personal thank you note and attach this label to your package. Drop it in the mailbox or at the nearest post office. Assuming you use this shipping label, you will be insured up to a value of $100 if the item gets lost in transit by the postage provider.

There are no restrictions with seller location for the purposes of postage. If you can post it, you can sell it

You will have 7 business days to ship the item with the relevant courier. If you aren’t able to ship the item within 7 business days, the retailer reserves the right to cancel and refund the transaction. If you are on holiday or otherwise cannot ship the item in the time given, please contact Loop's customer service at [email protected]

How is my item protected after I ship it?

At the point your item sells, we will email you a pre-addressed & insured shipping label to put on your package. Assuming you use this shipping label, you will be insured up to a value of $100 if the item gets lost in transit by the postage provider.

What happens if the buyer does not accept the item?

If a buyer reports an issue with their order, we will ask them to upload details and photos for their return request. Our team will carefully review the case and offer a resolution. If you have misrepresented the item, for example by failing to communicate damage, you will not be paid and the item will be returned to you.

Buyers
I want to sell second hand:

What is Loop resale on a retailers website?

Loop is a resale marketplace where you can buy and sell second hand products, as part of our resale community.

Who am I buying from?

You are purchasing a retailer's product from another customer who has decided to sell it. You can see their name in the listing. They are responsible for packing and shipping the item to you.

How are products and sellers verified?

If a Seller has transacted with a retailer in the past, we are able to share this information with you via a verification badge. Better yet, if the Seller bought the particular item they are selling on the retailer’s website, we share this information with you via a further verification badge to acknowledge that not only are they known to the retailer, but so is their previous ownership of the item in question.

Beyond our Seller & Product Verification, we do not guarantee the existence, quality or authenticity of the items advertised, the truth or accuracy of sellers’ content or listings on the service, or the ability of sellers to sell items through the service and ship items within required shipping windows.

That said, your purchases are protected when you shop with the retailer second hand. We will refund you if your item never ships or has been misrepresented by the seller.

How is shipping handled?

As a Buyer, you have the opportunity to choose the shipping details at the point of purchase.

To ensure you receive your purchase in a timely and safe manner, we provide resellers with a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label. If the reseller does not send your item within 7 business days of receiving the shipping label, we reserve the right to cancel the transaction.

Do Loop products ship internationally?

Yes. Through our global shipping partners, we connect buyers and sellers from all over the world (and take care of any associated tax or import duties).

What happens if my item arrives damaged?

If your item is damaged or in a different condition to how it was described in the listing, you have 3 days after receiving your item to request a refund. You can do this by contacting [email protected]. We will ask you to explain the issue and send us a few photos. If we verify that the item has been misrepresented, we will email you a shipping label to return it. You will have 7 full business days to ship the item, after which you will receive a full refund.

What happens if my item never arrives?

If your item does not ship within 7 full business days of purchase, you will have the option to cancel and receive a full refund. If your item never arrives, we will issue you a full refund.

Can I return an item?

All sales are final and returns are not accepted. However, you can always re-list the item for sale here. In the event that a seller has misrepresented the item you purchased, you will have 3 days after receiving the item to notify us of the issue and request a refund.

How are sales taxes calculated?

State and local sales tax, when applicable, will be charged on items. Sales tax is calculated based on the type of item and the post/zip code of the buyer and seller.

Where can I use my credit or discounts?

Store credits and discounts may be used to purchase new products on the retailer's site, not resale items. Find your credit and discount codes in your Loop profile.
